Drop-In Events - Sheffield Local Plan

The public consultation is now open regarding developments on Sheffield's green belt as part of the Sheffield Local Plan. The consultation period runs from 29 May 2025 for six weeks. Local green belt campaigns are producing guidance regarding the best way to respond to the consultation. It is recommended that people take time to respond with detailed arguements rather than rush to respond immediately. The council are holding events and local campaigns are also holding events - more details below.


Events to Learn About How to Protect Sheffield's Green Belt


Sheffield Council Drop-In Sessions - Green Belt


Sheffield Council are holding drop-in sessions where residents can talk to them about the Sheffield Local Plan and how it will impact Sheffield's Green Belt. At these events, you can look at plans, maps, information and ask questions. These drop-in events are open to the public and will take place at the following venues and times:


  • Chapeltown - Chapeltown Methodist Church, Wednesday 4th June, 4.30pm - 8.30pm

  • Bents Green - Bents Green Methodist Church, Tuesday 10th June, 4pm - 8pm

  • Grenoside - St Marks Church, Main Street, Grenoside, Wednesday 11 June, 4.30pm - 8.30pm

  • Woodhouse - Woodhouse Community Library, Tuesday 17 June, 4.30pm - 6.30pm

  • Sheffield City Centre - Winter Gardens, 26 June, Thursday 26 June, 10am - 3pm

  • Wharncliffe Side - Brightholmlee Chapel, Wednesday 2nd July, 4.30pm - 6.30pm


Local Green Belt Campaign Events


Local campaigns are also hosting regular meetings and events.


Grenoside, Ecclesfield & Chapeltown: Your chance to speak with members of the Community Campaign Group and learn more about how to submit an objection to plans to build on the green belt.

  • Drop-in on Thursdays from 12 June until 3rd July, 5.30pm - 7.30pm at Whitley Hall Cricket Clubhouse.

  • Drop-in to Chapeltown Library 1pm-3pm on Monday 16th, Wednesday 18th, Monday 23rd, Wednesday 25th June, Monday 30th June, or Wednesday 2nd July.

  • Drop-in to Ecclesfield Library 10.15am-12noon on Friday 20th June.

  • Grenoside Gala - Saturday 21st June from 12.30pm.

  • Grenoside Reading Room - 10am-11.30am on Monday 23rd June.


Chapeltown: Green Belt campaign meetings run everyTuesday at 6.30pm at the Commercial pub in Chapeltown. Everyone is welcome.


Wharncliffe Side: The Wharncliffe side campaign will be hosting a meeting to help villagers prepare their responses at Brightholmlee Chapel on Wednesday 2nd July from 6.30pm – 8.30pm (after the council drop-in session). All local residents are invited to attend.


S13: There are also regular meetings every Sunday until July 6th as part of the local campaign to protect the green belt in S13. At these sessions you can learn how you can be the voice for wildlife that cannot speak for itself. More details below.
